Welcome to a new series on The Daily Spectacle – Mindfulness 101.
As a vocals student and former drama school student I have learnt the need to merge mindfulness exercises into my daily routine to make sure that not only am I taking care of my physical and vocal health but also that I spend time looking after both my mental health and wellbeing.
I ask you this question – how often are you completely in the present? You may be surprised but we rarely ever are. We spend more time either worrying about what is to come or spending time down memory lane, rarely ever taking in the feeling of being fully in the present. This year my goal is to fully embrace the mindfulness journey and hopefully I can convince you to join me on this adventure.
You may be thinking that you won’t be able to fit the mindfulness journey into your daily lifestyle but that is where I come in. Each week I will put up an article about an exercise I use or some hints and tips on how to best practise mindfulness. I will also be letting you know about all the different resources that I have found useful such as mobile applications, books, classes and any helpful quotes.
Hopefully this nice short introductory article has you hooked on the idea of joining in with the mindfulness journey. The first exercise article will be released this weekend to start as we mean to go on.
To finish this article I’ll leave you with a quote from one of my favourite mindfulness resources, Headspace:
“Life passes us by quicker than we ever imagine. To miss a single moment of it is something we will later regret. Be present in the world.”
